LeidarPlan

LeidarPlan is an advanced drilling hydraulics engineering tool for planning conventional, surface back pressure MPD and controlled mud level (CML) wells.

LeidarPlan is built to aid well planners by simulating common and advanced drilling hydraulics operations. It supports conventional, MPD, or CML wells and offers snapshot calculations of anchor point, ESD, and ECD. LeidarPlan also performs steady-state and batch mode analyses of common MPD operations, surge and swab analysis, and generates flow and rotation to pressure tables for connection planning. Additionally, it provides advanced displacement schedules for mud rollover planning, managed pressure cementing analysis, and advanced influx management envelope (IME) calculations including gas solubility and distribution. The software also includes a report generator for comprehensive documentation.

Steady-state hydraulics modelling

Calculations of steady-state downhole hydraulics, inluding thermal model.

  • Land, offshore surface stack and deepwater well plan options
  • Section run scenario builder
  • Fast computation of anchor point, ESD and ECD
  • Integral thermal model calculates near-field wellbore temperature based on circulation time
  • Compare and contrast conventional, MPD and CML well plan options
  • Drillstring rotation and cuttings loading friction considerations

Multifluid batch simulations

Batch simulations are incorporated for planning operations normally performed with dynamic simulators

  • Multi-Fluid circulations like cementing, mud rollover and pill/mud cap placement
  • Enhanced user interface to interact with simulation at any stage of a complex circulation
  • Comprehensive output for required surface pressures to maintain anchor point pressure

Surge/swab analysis

Optimize planned tripping speeds with either instantaneous or batch calculations

  • SBP tripping compensation at a fixed depth
  • Specify depth interval for batch surge/swab calculation for trip speed window
  • Specify virtual sensor for depth of interest

Influx Management Envelope (IME)

IMEs are calculated automatically for each simulation scenario

  • Choose calculation method:
  • Ideal gas (most conservative)
  • Real gas (recommended)
  • Soluble, distributed gas (least conservative)
  • Engineered calculations to aid in building MPD operations matrix
  • Help define influx circulation limits of MPD equipment

Key functionality

Intuitive and easy to use

Wells can be set up in minutes, allowing planners to quickly analyze well plan options.

Accurate and robust

Hydraulic calculations incorporate full PVT models of fluids with advanced thermal model for accurate results.

Batch mode

Common operations have been optimized into batch calculations that dramatically reduce computation time, compared to dynamic simulators.

Easy access

LeidarPlan is cloud-based, which means it can be accessed via your own computer wherever there is an internet connection. Well plans can easily be shared amongst team members, or from office to the rig.
